Apple Wine Tavern
Regional Kitchen, German

Hail to the ribs! Since 1849, this traditional pub has been welcoming its guests with home-style cooking and cool Ebbelwei wine

A cheerful hubbub of voices in the dining room, a long bar behind which the Bembel – traditional apple wine jugs – are lined up and waiters* hurrying between long tables with lavishly laden plates. This is exactly how an apple wine pub should be! The Fichtekränzi has been mastering the successful recipe of conviviality, home-style cooking and refreshing Ebbelwei since 1849, making it one of Frankfurt's oldest cider taverns. The name also dates back to its founding, when a wreath woven from spruce branches signaled that Ebbelwei was served here. The dark-panelled dining room with its original Parisian Art Deco lamps is usually bustling, and in summer you can also sit outside under the shady plane tree to enjoy ribs with sauerkraut, Frankfurter platter with mashed potatoes, schnitzel salad with green sauce and other home-style cooking.
