The “Eiserne Steg” footbridge is one of the city's most popular photo spots with a view of the Frankfurt skyline. The steel pedestrian bridge connects the city centre around Römerberg with Sachsenhausen on the other side of the River Main. Every day, thousands of people walk across the imposing bridge to get from “Hibbdebach” to “Dribbdebach” - from one side of the river to the other - and vice versa. With countless colourful love locks and a great skyline panorama, the Eiserne Steg is the perfect photo location.

Tip: On early summer mornings and late afternoons, the sun reflects on the imposing towers of the city's skyline, a great time to take that most memorable of snaps.

At the top of the list are, of course, the Römerberg and the New Old Town, which was reconstructed true to the original just a few years ago. Here, you'll find a large selection of different perspectives for the perfect photo. Be it against the backdrop of the Römer - Frankfurt's town hall - or in front of the beautiful half-timbered eastern housing row directly opposite. The tour continues into the neighbouring New Old Town with its 15 faithful reconstructions and 20 new buildings. The “Hühnermarkt” plaza in the New Old Town, Emperors' Cathedral, “Goldene Waage” and the route towards the Römerberg or the cathedral offer fantastic photo backdrops.

Spectacular sunsets with a skyline background: You have to experience them! Sometimes in red, sometimes in orange, sometimes with a golden  fireball, sometimes dramatic with clouds. Although the skyline backdrop is always the same, every sunset photo looks impressively different. That's a promise!

Wow, straight towards the skyline! Very impressive! That's what many people think as they cross the Untermainbrücke (Lower Main Bridge) from Sachsenhausen towards the city centre. An impressive backdrop that makes the author of this article feel the need to take a photo every single time, because the view doesn't allow it any other way.

Dribbdebach - 'over the creek' on the other side of the River Main in Sachsenhausen - is not only very beautiful, but also offers fantastic views of the river and the skyline. Whether from the Main Café or a little further east at the so-called “ kebab boat”, there are many great perspectives to discover. And if the weather is pleasant, it's also a good idea to bring a little time with you and relax by the riverside after the photo session.

A classic amongst Frankfurt's photo spots! The headquarters of the European Central Bank once stood here before they were moved to the East End. However, the oversized blue euro sign still stands here in the city centre and invites you to take a selfie. The location is particularly popular among international guests as a small greeting from Europe. It is also a very urban spot, especially inviting in the evening hours with the setting sun reflecting in the mirror fronts of the tower blocks.

The city is changing rapidly here. It feels like a new high-rise opens up every time you visit, which many people would never expect to see in Germany! Anyone looking for spectacular skyscrapers in an urban environment should definitely plan to visit this spot. The cityscape is also easily captured “on film” from the Roßmarkt plaza.

The Lohrberg is Frankfurt's local hill. A wonderful spot for summer evenings. It's definitely on our must-see list, as it not only offers an incredibly beautiful view of our skyline, but also the Lohrberger Hang wine-growing area. Who would have thought it - Frankfurt locals not only know “Ebbelwei”, but also wine.

Tip: If you want to do more than just take photos, pack a picnic!

 Alte Oper Frankfurt was one of the most famous opera houses in the world until the Second World War left it in ruins. When it was rebuilt, many of the original decorations, reliefs, medallions, frescoes, tiles and mosaics were restored - all beautiful details that you can capture for your photo. If you visit Frankfurt during springtime, you'll also be able to capture the cherry blossom boulevard next to Alte Oper Frankfurt.

Situated near the new ECB (European Central Bank) building, directly on the beautiful banks of the River Main, Harbour Park is "the place to be" for athletes and anyone who likes to watch them: Calisthenics, basketball, football, skate park,  fitness trail and more. The new and fresh backdrop has also doubled as a shooting location for one or two major film projects.
