This weekly market between the university campus, Senckenberg Nature Museum and Palmengarten is one of the most popular meeting places in Frankfurt's Bockenheim district: on Thursdays, countless stalls are grouped around the Bockenheimer Warte where you can stock up on regional and seasonal delicacies - healthy ingredients to take home or treats that you can enjoy on the spot.
The market is also a popular place for a lunchtime snack among local residents. People meet up over potato pancakes, soup, waffles or smoothies and watch the hustle and bustle of the market together. Towering high above it all is the Bockenheimer Warte, a Gothic watchtower from the early 15th century that once protected the trade route to Cologne. Although it is not open to the public, it is Bockenheim's landmark, even though, strictly speaking, it is already in the Westend district.
