When Tony Lakatos received the invitation to play a concert this year at Frankfurt s Römerberg during the 2-day festival "Jazz zum Dritten", he explained that this was a fitting end to a small European tour of his quartet.
For 6 years now, a jazz-interested and party-loving audience has been coming together very close to Frankfurt's New Old Town, and they are sure to appreciate the music of the Tony Lakatos Quartet. After all, Lakatos, who has been playing the international jazz world with his tenor saxophone from Frankfurt for decades, has asked old musician friends to join him for this concert.
Martin Sasse, the extremely renowned jazz pianist, will contribute his own compositions for this concert, which will alternate with pieces from Lakatos' latest CD "Blue Chili". The Lakatos pieces are also original compositions from the Corona period - by far the best way to draw good things from this weird time.
Bassist Martin Gjakonovski and drummer Dominik Raab are no strangers to Frankfurt jazz circles. They harmonise fabulously with Lakatos and Sasse, because just like the latter two they show great joy in playing with good grooves, a bit of funk and sensitive ballads.
