Mini vacation on the banks of the Main: Meral's kebab boat brings the Bosphorus feeling to Frankfurt and treats its customers to fish kebabs and a panoramic view of the skyline.
Fancy a little trip to Istanbul on the Main? The Turkish metropolis actually served as inspiration for kebab boat owner Ramiz Meral. After seeing fishermen in Turkey offering their catch grilled on board their boats, he had the vision of bringing this idea to Frankfurt.
His floating snack bar was launched in 2004, and since then the family business has become a much-loved institution during the summer months. The clientele is as colorful as the Turkish carpets on the benches: guests and locals, students and bankers, families and singles come here to drink a cup of black tea, listen to Turkish pop and, of course, to eat.
In addition to Dürüm, Köfte and classic kebab variations, there are fish dishes with anchovies, mackerel fillets or sea bream as well as a delicious veggie option with grilled vegetables and feta cheese. And the sunset with a view of the skyline can compete with any Bosphorus panorama.
