Bridge
From the most beautiful bridge in the city, you have a view of the Frankfurt skyline on one side and the Museumsufer on the other. Even the expressionists appreciated this.

Frankfurt has many bridges, but this is not just any bridge. For more than 100 years, the Eiserne Steg has spanned the River Main to take pedestrians from "Hibb de Bach to Dribb de Bach", i.e. from the old town over to Sachsenhausen. Although the steel structure, which inspired the expressionist painters Max Beckmann (1884-1950) and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) to create several paintings, was destroyed during the Second World War, it was rebuilt shortly afterwards. During a later renovation, lifts for wheelchairs and pushchairs were installed. If you go onto the bridge, you have a great view of the striking silhouette of the city and the Museumsufer. On the Old Town side is the landing stage for Frankfurt's excursion boats, which travel upriver towards Gerbermühle or downriver towards Griesheim lock. Alternatively, you can hire electric boats on the Sachsenhäuser Ufer or stop off at the restaurant boat.
