Opera Frankfurt has already been named "Opera House of the Year" seven times by specialist journals and has received awards for the best overall theatre programme. In fact, it is considered one of the most important music theatres in Europe, where numerous conductors and singers launched their world careers, such as soprano Brenda Rae, who made her debut here in 2008. In addition to the great ensemble, it is above all the mix that artistic director Bernd Loebe relies on that makes the theatre so successful: he includes well-known repertoire pieces by musical greats such as Verdi, Wagner and Mozart in the programme as well as new or forgotten pieces. Opera performances are currently staged in the so-called double theatre complex on Willy-Brandt-Platz, which is also home to the Frankfurt Schauspiel.
