Special Museum
The art is in the detail, as this museum on the Museumsufer makes clear. It shows everyday art from all over the world and from the most diverse eras.

Chinese vases from the 18th century and a hand mirror from the 12th century, the Wire Chair by Ray and Charles Eames as a design classic from the 1950s, a first iMac computer from 1995: in its permanent exhibition "Elementary Parts", the Museum of Applied Arts uses selected pieces from its collection to show how art has accompanied everyday life at all times and in all countries. This includes a completely preserved "Frankfurt Kitchen" by Viennese architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky. In the 1920s, she observed the typical movements involved in cooking and baking and designed a fitted kitchen in which everything is within easy reach on six square metres. Nine fully furnished period rooms show just how much our living culture has changed over the past two centuries: from baroque halls to art nouveau rooms. They are housed in the historic villa dating back to 1804, which was extended by the US architect and Pritzker Prize winner Richard Meier in 1987 to form the museum ensemble we know today.
